"UK: Supermarket delivery vans torched by ‘youths’ after lockdown as part of wider violence
Two home delivery vans operated by the British supermarket chain Iceland were destroyed in an arson attack in Bristol on Monday only hours after Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced that the UK is going on lockdown in response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
At approximately 9:30 PM, “youths” began creating disturbances in the areas of Henbury and Southmead. The police were called to get the rioters under control, but the miscreants threw “missiles” at them to repel their attempt to disperse the crowd. Later that night, two vans parked outside Iceland’s Southmead store were set ablaze, The Daily Mirror reports.
Although the fire brigade was called and attempted to put out the blaze, the damage was total and the vehicles can no longer be used.
People who are most at risk for coronavirus infection, such as the handicapped, the chronically ill, and the elderly, have been making use of supermarket home delivery services since the outbreak began to reduce the chances that they will be exposed to the virus by going out in public."
