"Patel, a surname of Indian origin, has featured at the top of a list of the 50 most common surnames in London. According to genealogical website, Forebears, the surname features 85,530 times in the English capital.
Patel is also the ninth most common surname in the whole of England.
Also featuring in the top 10 were Khan at number 6, Shah at number 7, Ahmed at number 9 and Ali (written as 'Aku' on the above linked article) at number 10. Begum, Singh and Hussain also featured near the top of the list."
