"Germany: Two female pensioners and four off-duty police officers attacked by migrants over the weekend
Four off-duty police officers were attacked by a group of ten to fifteen people of party Turkish origin last Saturday in Hamm, Westphalia.
The incident began after they were approached by a 19-year-old man who immediately recognized one of the officers from a past encounter. After the four off-duty policemen rejected the young man’s advances he disappeared. But shortly thereafter, the man returned with ten to fifteen others and attacked the police, according to Dortmund prosecutor Jörg Schulte-Göbel, Bild reports.
That’s when the attack ensued.
Two police officers were injured seriously, with one suffering cuts to his abdomen while the other suffered a concussion from being repeatedly kicked while he was down. The other two policemen suffered only minor injuries likme cuts, bruises, and abrasions.
That night, two 19-year-old suspects were arrested and are said to be Turkish-German.
North Rhine-Westphalia’s Interior Minister Herbert Reul (CDU) expressed his horror and dismay at the night’s events.
In the same weekend, in the city of Mönchengladbach – a city close to Düsseldorf and the Netherlands border – three members of a youth gang were arrested for the attack and robbery of two senior citizens. The assailants are eleven, twelve, and fifteen years old, Zeit reports.
According to witnesses and the victims, the perpetrators acted with extreme ruthlessness and aggressiveness. The group reportedly approached their 91 and 74-year-old female victims from behind, kicked them brought them down, and then stole their handbags, police say. The 91-year-old women had to be hospitalized following the robbery. The other wasn’t injured."
