A suspected gang member has been arrested for three schoolgirl rapes in eight months – after repeatedly being BAILED by the police.
Details of the triple rape suspect can today be revealed as police confirm that 14 suspected south Birmingham gang members have been arrested for alleged sex offences against under-age girls.
The cases have heightened fears that children in communities terrorised by gangs are not being properly protected by the authorities.
The Birmingham Mail has discovered that three of the 14 gang members arrested for rape and sexual assaults were bailed by the police – and went on to allegedly commit further sex crimes against young girls.
One suspect has been accused of THREE rapes against under-age girls as young as 13, yet he was still allowed police bail after each alleged rape.
* Accused of raping a schoolgirl in late March, he was arrested in late April and bailed.
* In May he was arrested for a second rape of a schoolgirl, and was again granted bail.
* He was arrested in October for an alleged gang rape of a schoolgirl – and was granted bail a third time.
It means the suspected gang member has been arrested and bailed three times for three separate alleged child rapes in just eight months."
